1. Comeniustreffen in Chesterfield

For the first meeting of our Comenius Project we went to Chesterfield in England. We spend some time in Chesterfield to get an impression of the city and to go shopping. To get to know each other better we made some team building activities and afterwards we had dinner together. The next day we made a trip to Magna Science & Adventure in Sheffield, a center to make a discovery through the elements of air, water, earth and fire. The center is also a place where trash has been recycled since the 1950ies. We think that it is a great place to learn more about our environment and our planet. Afterwards we went to the Meadowhall Shopping Centre and had some time off.

We started our day at 8 o’clock in the morning with a breakfast at the hotel. The breakfast was very delicious and we had a wide range of fruits, cereal, scrambled eggs, mushrooms, bread etc. Afterwards we visited the city of Chesterfield and had a bit of time to look around. There were a few shops and a big market.
After the city walk we went to the Chesterfield College and had lunch in the cafeteria of the college. In the afternoon we met the other students of France, England and the Netherlands and played some games to get to know each other. One game was speed dating where we got some information about the other students, e.g. hobbies, sports, family, school etc. or building a tower of spaghetti in mixed groups.
Later we had some time for ourselves.
In the evening we went to an Indian restaurant with the whole group. First we could choose which of the meals we wanted to eat. While we were waiting for our meals we could talk to the others and got some more information about them. The meals tasted very good and we enjoyed the stay there.
By the end of the day we went back to our hotel and relaxed in the lounge.

Tuesday started with the trip to Sheffield. In the morning we visited the Magna adventure center. It is a center to learn more about the four elements (water, earth, fire, air). They want you to think about how much you influence the environment and there you can explore the limits of science. We had a guide who showed us the different theme parks. Earlier the adventure center was a furnace to recycle steel and metal. Afterwards we went to big shopping center in Sheffield where we had some time off and we used the time to go shopping, eating and to learn more about the other students from the different countries. At the evening we went to the bowling center where we formed different groups and made a competition. It was big fun. After bowling, the coach brought us back to our hotel and all of us were very tired. So everyone went to bed.
On Wednesday we had our first working session in Chesterfield College. We had breakfast at 8 ‘o clock to start our walk at 08.45 to be at Chesterfield College punctual at 9 ‘o clock. At first every group presented their working results about the carbon footprint. Then we ate in the College’s restaurant. After lunch there was one group left to present their results. After all presentations we started working on various topics like mobility, food, consumption and living. To work efficiently our big group was divided into many small ones; our main topic was sustainability & the carbon footprint. Every group prepared a small presentation which was shown to the audience later on.
By the end of the day we went back to our hotel where we had free time until 7 ‘o clock. Then we met for our party. We had a great buffet and enjoyed it very much because there was an awesome atmosphere. The party finished at 12 PM. Finally  we said goodbye to the English and French students and went to bed because we had to get up very early the next morning.
